El Pinar de El Hierro municipality is located on the southern slope of the quiet island of El Hierro in the Canary Islands.

This municipality was founded in 2007 and its capital is El Pinar, located 27 kilometers away from Valverde.

The slope of El Julan has some steep mountainside and spectacular cliffs while on the other regions prevail the soft slopes and the fertile prairies. The peculiarities of its relief offer a climatological diversity and unique landscape providing you the opportunity to enjoy a perfect day from a long bath on the beach to a relaxing hike on the mountains.

Its main town includes the boroughs of Taibique and Las Casas which are located on the middle-west side of this municipality, surrounded by a fresh environment (due to the pine forests present on the surroundings).

In El Pinar de El Hierro you’ll find very interesting touristic sites such as the La Restinga, a fishing town, which survives mainly due to this economic activity done in a traditional sustainable way. This town also includes the unforgettable marine reserve with famous natural resources and an exceptional area to enjoy the seabed (through diving or snorkeling). This is a must-see spot for the diving lovers and that’s also why many famous events are held here, such as the Open Foto Sub El Hierro Island.

Other must-see spots are the Orchilla Lighthouse a site with much history formerly known as the “End of the Known World”, the Ethnographic Interpretation Center, the Volcanic Interpretation Center, Los Lajiales, Tacorón, Hoya del Morcillo, El Julan, La Dehesa and the viewpoints of Playas and Tanajara.

This municipality also has many small and quiet coves with crystal clear waters, perfect for an unforgettable beach day.

You might also find here many entertainment activities as the, already mentioned, diving on one of the world’s prettiest seabed, the sports fishing and walking through numerous trails between the leafy protected sites.
