The El Viento Cave is, without any doubt, one of the widest volcanic tubes on the world. In fact, the complex known as El Viento Sobrado Cave is the widest volcanic tube you might find in Europe. This volcanic tube was formed due to the solidification of the lava flows from Pico Viejo near the Teide.
If you’re in Icod de los Vinos, or in any other municipality in Tenerife it’s recommendable to visit the El Viento Cave as it will allow you to understand how the volcanic flows disperse as well as appreciate fantastic underground lava shapes.
The el Viento Sobrado Cave has an extension of more than 17 kilometers wide from which you might find three different passages of lava terrain.
If you’ve decided to visit the El Viento Sobrado Cave you should know that there will be no constraints on the understanding the functioning system as it has many bilingual panels explaining the interior of this Visitor’s Centre. Moreover, in the interior of the cave will be guided by an expert which will lead the expedition explaining all the characteristics of this insolit cave.
