The Nava Palace is located in the Nava and Grimón street near the Plaza del Adelantado on the East of the San Cristóbal de La Laguna, on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands.

The Nava Palace has been considered cultural interest good in the category of Monument in the municipality San Cristóbal de La Laguna since 1976.

If you’re going to the Nava Palace you might observe one of the most insolit domestic architecture buildings in the Canary Islands, as from here you might contemplate an excellent combination of baroque, neoclassical and mannerist elements.

The history of the Nava Palace dates back to the year of 1500, when Jorge Grimón, conqueror of Tenerife constructed the Casa de Nava. Jorge Grimón, due to its contribution to the conquest of Tenerife received many fortunes and lands on different areas of this island. Due to his heritage and summing with the properties his son Jerónimo Grióm and his descendents this family formed a privileged class in the XVII which would change Tenerife’s aristocracy. Through these generations the Nava Palace, suffered many changes and upgrades as, for example, in 1776 when Tomás Nava Grimón y Porlier decided to totally cover the building on stone giving it the look it still maintains nowadays.

On the XX century, the Nava Palace was subdivided and interiorly changed, leaving the facade as the only reflection of its history, a more than three centuries history that reflects the importance of this family both economic, political and cultural, inside and outside of this island.
