The Pottery Center and Cha Domitila Ethnographic Museum is located in Arguayo, in the municipality of Santiago del Teide, on the Northwest of the island of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands.
This museum is located in an enchanting house and it was founded by this town’s own inhabitants. This house has typical canary architecture and a L-shape.
The reconstruction and design of this museum was done by Don Luis Ibañez, who transformed the old house, on ruins, into this new enclosure where the museum’s held always respecting its traditional original architecture.
The centre and museum was opened with the goal, that still maintains nowadays, of promoting the evolution of the guanche pottery. Precisely for this reason the museum was also converted into the most important pottery centre on this island. Here you might admire beautiful insolit pieces and discover the authentic aboriginal pottery evolution from its origin to the actual canary popular pottery techniques.
