La Alhóndiga is placed in the city centro of Tacaronte, in the island of Tenerife in Canary Islands.
La Alhóndiga was an old “ark of mercy” from the XVII century which was the place that supplied farmers in bad crop seasons.
Due to the extintion of cereal plantation in the end of the XVIII century, La Alhóndiga lost it’s use as cereal warehouse and started being used for different purposes.
After a long time of abandonment, a group of citizes created an association for it’s recovery and conservation. Today, many cultural activities are held inside it’s walls.
