The Museo Naval de La Palma (La Palma Naval Museum) is located in the Alameda Square in Santa Cruz de La Palma, capital of the island of La Palma.
This museum is located inside a reproduction of the colombian caravel of Santa María, in which Columbus made his first trip to America. This replica dates back to 1940 and it’s a good example of the maritime vocation of Santa Cruz de La Palma.
In its interior you might see many valuable parchments from the Tribunal of India, nautical charts and several navigation instruments.
This monumental replica is also the stage for the dialogue between the Castle and the Nave in the Lowering of the Virgen Festivity, which happens every five years.
