The San Andrés y Sauces municipality is located between Barlovento and Puntallana in the northwest region of La Palma, in the Canary Islands.
San Andrés y Sauces is a municipality dedicated to agriculture, as it has many fertile lands and water abundance from the Marcos and Cordero manantials.
The Sauces location is a very urban area of this municipality. it’s characterized by its main activities which happen around the main square, while San Andrés is a quiet area, sea oriented and that sustains the agriculture practices, specially for the growth of bananas, different kinds of cabbage, and the production of cane rum distilled in Puerto Espíndola.
The important San Andrés city centre is one of the most important city centres in La Palma, highlighted by its parish church from the XVII century, renacentist style as well as the Casa de Quinto from the XVI century.
From this location you should also highlight the Cuevas del Tendal, the El Regente Hydraulic Mill Museum, the Nuestra Señora de Monserrat Church, the Puerto Espíndola and the Natural Pools Charco Azul.
One of the most important dates to visit San Andrés and Sauces is between the months of may and august as it’s when the most important festivities happen as, for example, the La Cruz y Santa Rita festivity (on the last weekend of may), the San Juan Bautista Festivity, during the first week of july, or the Nuestra Señora del Carmen festivity on the first weekend of August.
