Both the Hacienda de San Clemente as the San Clemente Hermitage are located on the agricultural area of Malpaís, inside the municipality of Santa Úrsula, on the north region of Tenerife.
The San Clemente Hermitage is considered part of the Historic Heritage of Santa Úrsula. Moreover it was recently proclaimed Cultural Interest Good in the category of Monument.
It’s interesting to know that the San Clemente Hacienda is where Alonso de Nava y Grimón made his first experiments with plants he brought from America. An illustrious and solidary man as he opened his own home as a shelter to ill people when this municipality lacked doctors.
This house was used, for a long time, as the summer house by the Villanueva del Prado Marquises. On its facade you might observe the own coat of arms of this famous family.
Nearby this house you might find the San Clemente Hermitage built by Tomás de Nava, the Villanueva del Prado Marquis. The hermitage was built in 1683 and it possesses a wooden carved altarpiece where you might identify the Señor with the Virgin and the Child on a niche. The oil belongs to a french school from the XVII century with anonymous author.
