The Montaña de los Frailes is a monumental natural space located in the municipality of Los Realejos, in the north of Tenerife.

The Montaña de los Frailes is a small volcanic cone with more than 25 hectare that form a singular unique singular landscape in the endearing Valle de La Orotava.

This appealing mountain is believed to exist since the XIII century, when the volcanic eruptions started. It has a great geological and geomorphological interest due to its structure and to the fact that it forms a small chain of three volcanic cones responsible for the creation of this part of the island.

Regarding its vegetation, this mountain has few flora elements. There’s a presence of several different types of grass which might be seen on the northern slope.

This place was used by locals to celebrate different traditional activities related to agriculture and culture. Still nowadays you might see many farming areas throughout this region and a small hermitage on top of the mountain that still appeals to lot of people, specially on the 3rd of May on the popular La Cruz Festivity.
