The Museum of Nature and Man is located on the former Civil Hospital an emblematic building with neo classic architecture located in the Fuentes Morales street in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the Canary Islands.
This museum reflects the bustle of scientists that passed on the Canary Islands during XVIII and XIX century (Darwin, Vernau, Berthelot, among others) due to the fact of finding here a privileged space to establish their natural investigation labs.
Tenerife’s council was gradually accumulating private and public collections which allowed them to establish, on the 50’s, their notable museums: Archaeological Museum and the Natural Sciences Museum. This museums joined, together with the Canary Bioanthropology Institute, into a great expository project: the Nature and Human Museum. This modern museum offers its visitors a great potential of contents and collections that have been collected for decades shown in a funny way while dealing with different specialities from the natural diversity in the Canary Islands as well as from the different pre-hispanic populations that lived on this region.
This museum combines in its exhibitions different traditional methods with modern systems that allow their visitors to interact and consult information regarding main exposed themes.
