The Casa de la Aduana is located near the fishing port of Puerto de la Cruz, on the north coast of Tenerife.
The Casa de la Aduana is a very important building in this location as it’s the most civil building still conserved in this city. This traditional style house has been photographed by thousands of tourists through the years.
It was founded in 1620 by the Franchy family. Later it housed the La Aduana dependencies, and it was used an administrators house till 1833.
Near this house you might find the Batería de Santa Bárbara, built on the XVII century. This batería was made by a palisade, a shelter and a powder keg house, it also has four canyons that were used to protect the city from the surrounding boats. Nowadays you might only see the stone gangway that accesses the sea.
Nowadays, this historic building hosts an ample artesanal exhibition as well as many cultural exhibitions.
