The Taoro Park is located on the heart of Puerto de la Cruz, on the north of Tenerife.
The Taoro Park, was known as Monte Misery, is a badlands from where you might get some of the nicest views all over the city. This Park is considered the municipal’s lung with a leafy extension of nearly 100.000 square meters.
Nowadays the Taoro Park is divided into three regions: la Atalaya, los Jardines del Casino and the el Camino de la sortija.
In la Atalaya you’ll find the idyllic site for quiet rides complemented by relaxing fountains, cascades, lakes and great gardens with palms and subtropical plants that bring new life to the walking trials.
Atalaya you might also find many different viewpoints as well as terraces, a kindergarten, many viewpoints and many pottery walls with different paintings with themes related to the Canary Islands.
On the casino area you can find one of the most emblematic buildings on the whole park, the Taoro Hotel, one of the first hotel establishments in the Canary Islands (1890) that was then transformed in the city’s casino.
Regarding the Camino de La Sortija area we must point out that this is a very endearing place as here’s where you might assist some the local festivities and horse competitions, the biggest attraction both for locals and tourists. Either in Taoro Gardens and in Camino de la Sortija, it’s usual to see numerous athletes and sport fans practicing footing and other activities. It’s also important to mention that in Taoro Park you might see other interesting locations such as the Anglican Church (with its neo gothic style) and the convention centre.
