The Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia Parish is the most important religious building in Puerto de la Cruz.
Located in the Iglesia Square, number 5, the Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia Parish, declared Cultural Interest Good, was built on 1697. Through its history, this insolit parish has been growing and increasing its artistic value due to the numerous donations from the own congregation.
From its architecture we should highlight the tower, added in 1898, and the chapels complex. Its structure has a rectangular shape with three naves separated by tuscan-roman columns and medium point arches. Its inner roof is made of wood, and it has clear moorish influence.
On the bigger chappel you might see a valuable image of Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia, dating back to the XVII century. On the right side you might see an altarpiece known as los Mareantes, and an altarpiece offered by the sailors from the XVIII century.
On the left side on the main nave you might find the Gran Poder de Dios Chapel, where you can see a valuable neoclassic altarpiece made with two main bodies and an attic from the XVII century.
Other noteworthy pieces are the wooden cross lined on silver, kept in the sacristy, the numerous sculptures from the XVII and XVIII centuries as for example the María Magdalena or the San Juan Evangelista; The Nazarene Complex, the Cireneo and the ángeles (an anonymous piece from the XVII Century).
