The reserve occupies around 400 hectare and has three ecosystems: El Palmeral, named after the amount of palms it holds, Maspalomas Pond, and the Dunes.

The Maspalomas Dunes are an authentic sea of golden sand that covers part of the south of this island where many surfers come to. This site is visited by thousands of tourists every year, and it’s a must see spot if you’re passing by Gran Canaria. This sea of dunes is highlighted by a succession of mobile sandy dunes that might reach 10 meters of height, modeled by the wind.

The pond area is visited by numerous species of birds, being a perfect spot if you like bird-watching.
